Brian M Logan - Writing Samples
This is a place where I'll post random pieces of writing I've done down through the years. No rhyme or reason to what'll be posted here or in what order. It's just stuff I've been commissioned to write, or have written on spec.
As this is the newest section of the website I haven't gotten around to putting up much content here, just yet. But check in again soon!

It is currently under offer from a major Hollywood studio, and has the producer of Clash of the Titans attached to produce it as a major new TV series:
SYNOPSIS:
When down and out Monster Wrangler JD Enron accepts a missing persons assignment from the mysterious blonde with breasts you can ski down, he knows it’s something he’s going to regret. Especially as the job is going to take him back to Monster Town, the giant prison settlement in the New Mexico desert which houses all of America’s monsters. Be they Vampires, Werewolves, Gargoyles, Chupacabras, Moth Men, Zombies, Bigfoots or any of the other godless creature to have walked the Earth, Monster Town is the place where they all end up. And the one place you never want to go...
The Butcher of Box Hill (Novella): by Logan Savile (Sample Only)
This short story (which structurally is the prequel to the Monster Town story, and takes place 10 years earlier) was written by Brian M Logan from a property co-owned by Steven Savile, and was published by Bad Moon Books in the US in March 2010 under the pen-name, 'Logan' Savile' as a 1950s style 'Ace Flip Book' double feature with 'Monster Town'. It is currently under offer from a major Hollywood studio, and has the producer of Clash of the Titans attached to produce it as a major new TV series.
SYNOPSIS:
JD Enron is having the time of his life. As a senior Monster Wrangler for the Brotherhood of the Hand (the clandestine off-shoot of the Catholic church hired by the US government to capture all of America’s monsters), he gets to hunt monsters on a daily basis. And JD really hates monsters. But when his latest mission takes him to the remote logging town of Box Hill, Montana, in the dead of winter, he soon discovers that not all monsters have fangs. And that freshly spilt blood looks so very different on snow.
Monster Town (THE NOVEL): by Logan Savile (Sample Only)
The adaptation of Monster town from novella to full blown novel is exciting and takes JD Enron's journey into a town full of monsters to a whole new level. As you'll see from the sample, it has a much 'grittier' feel than the novella.
I Create Therefore I am: QED by Brian M Logan
In August 2000 I produced and launched Australia's very first ever streaming film and music website. The 'YouTube before YouTube' if you will. Yup, the very first EVER streaming image on an Australian website was IndiFilmWeb.com. This is something I'm hugely proud of. The launch of IndieFilmWeb.com on August 14,2000, at the old Riche nightclub in the Hilton Hotel, was packed with over 500 people, which included the who's who of the indie-film and indie-music celebrity set in Australia. Three live bands played to entertain the crowd: Skulker (headlining), Insurge, and Bug Superstar. At its peak IndieFilmWeb.com was listed by HitWise as the 14th most popular film and music website in Australia in the hugely contested 'Entertainment' space. IFW is long since defunct (a victim of the post dot com on-line environment). But every time I think about what I and my amazing team did to make this happy, I can't help but smile. We were at the cutting edge of the dot com wave. And, while the wave didn't last, it was one hell of a ride when it did.
Each month, as the Founder of IndieFilmWeb.com, I would write an article on some element of the film industry for the site. Here is the first one which went live when the site did. If you're an artist (writer, actor, dancer, whatever) this article should really resonate with you).
Things to do in a Morgue When You're Dead by Brian M Logan
In 1996 I directed a short film set in Australia's largest Morgue (the self same morgue in Glebe where they took the body of Michael Hutchence when he died). The short film went on to win awards both in Australia and the US, and IF Magazine asked me to write an article about my experiences shooting midnight to dawn in a morgue...
Here's a copy of the article, written (on a whim) in the 2nd person..
